While he is only making his Bollywood debut with Dhadak, Ishaan Khatter is already dreaming of writing his own film
If you have followed Ishaan Khatter before he became as popular as he is today, you’d know about his creative inclination. Apart from acting in films like Beyond the Clouds and Dhadak, he has also been an assistant director to Abhishek Chaubey on Udta Punjab. In fact, the young man dreams to write his own film one day.
Ishaan reveals all these in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the cover of which he is gracing with his Dhadak co-star, Janhvi Kapoor. A few of his semi-shirtless pictures from the feature photoshoot have set the internet ablaze. In the feature interview, Ishaan has talked about his future plan as a writer. “Eventually I would like to write my own film. Right now, I only write – mostly short stories or essays – when I feel like I have to get something out of my system,” he said. We’d sure love to read some of those short stories, Ishaan.
Well, it was not just writer-director Shashank Khaitan and Ishaan Khatter who have a penchant for the pen. Even Janhvi is a poet. As per a report by India Today, she has scribbled all over her Dhadak script and also added notes for herself. In the report, Ishaan has also revealed that she is into poetry. “It’s very therapeutic,” Janhvi had replied.
Dhadak is scheduled to release on July 2o. The movie is the official remake of the Marathi film, Sairat, by Nagraj Manjule. The movie has been backed by Dharma Productions. The head honcho Karan Johar is pretty excited about the film. At the trailer launch of Dhadak, Karan was asked as to what are the things he has to keep in mind when he makes films with such talents, who come from a film background. He said,”That they grow beyond their name and make their own identity. I think that is our responsibility and their responsibility.”
